Halloween & Snow

overcast -3 °C

It has been a few weeks since the last update...

October 31st was Halloween. They are absolutely nuts for it over here. A few days before, the Centre for International Programs at the university hosted a 'How to Halloween' evening, we got to carve pumpkins and eat candy. I went as a vampire, not overly creative, but that is what happens when you buy your costume a day before and most places are pretty much sold out. It was a fun night, and interesting to see the efforts people put into a costume. I think the most exciting part of the night was that Guelph had its first snow. I don't think there was one Aussie exchange student left inside the Halloween party at the mention that it was snowing outside. The next day we woke up and watched in disappointment as it quickly melted off the roof and ground.

The days passed, and every week there would be prediction for snow. But it just never came.

But this week, on Wednesday night, it finally snowed. And on Thursday. And today. And its meant to all week! It is cold. Not getting above 0 degrees throughout the day. The wind chill factor here is high, so when it says 0 degrees, it actually feels like -6. Your iPhone whether will prove this to you. When my ears and fingers started feeling like they were about to drop off, I decided I should by a beanie and gloves. It is hard to imagine that this isn't even as bad as it gets here (-39 in January, no thanks!). On Monday we had a lovely 10 degree day, I was actually ready to pull out the shorts it was that warm, so I think I am slowly adjusting.
